Why Autism?

Understanding Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD)

Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) is a neurodevelopmental condition that affects a person’s social interaction, communication, and behavior. It is a lifelong condition, but early diagnosis and intervention can significantly improve a child’s quality of life.

🧩 Key Characteristics of Autism:
✔️ Difficulty in social interactions and forming relationships
✔️ Delayed speech and language development
✔️ Repetitive behaviors and restricted interests
✔️ Sensory sensitivities (light, sound, texture, taste)

💡 Did You Know?
🔹 Autism is not a disease but a different way of seeing the world.
🔹 Early intervention can help improve cognitive and social skills.

Things To Keep In Mind

Why Autism Needs More Attention?

Lack of Awareness

Many parents and educators do not recognize early signs.

Limited access to SPECIALIZED care

Few centers provide expert autism therapy.

Social Stigma & Misconceptions

Many families fear social judgment and delay seeking help.

High Cost of Therapy

Many families cannot afford long-term therapy programs.

ACNF is working to overcome these challenges by providing FREE or subsidized therapy and awareness programs!

Global and Indian CDC Data

Global Data

1 in 36 children is diagnosed with autism. Autism is 4 times more common in boys than in girls. 17% of children aged 3–17 have a developmental disability, including autism.

India Specific Data

1 in 500 children is estimated to have autism. Autism prevalence is rising, but many cases go undiagnosed due to a lack of screening facilities. Only a few centers in India provide specialized autism intervention.

With rising cases, it is more important than ever to spread awareness and make therapy accessible to all!
